This is pretty simple.

$ ./configure
$ make
$ su -
<password>
# <cd back to here>
# make install
# exit
$ cp /usr/local/share/cdstatus/cdstatus.cfg ~/.cdstatus

Copy the cdstatus.cfg file from (usually) /usr/local/share/cdstatus/cdstatus.cfg
to your home directory and rename it to .cdstatus for it to take effect. Then
feel free to modify it to taste.

I am trying to build a relatively accurate list for my own purposes of the
platforms and hardware on which cdstatus runs. Even if you expect your
configuration is quite run of the mill, I would sincerely appreciate it
if you would take the time to email me with your system configuration,
i.e. architecture, distribution, cdrom drive, etc, and any feedback
you may have related to cdstatus.

Important note: This program assumes by default that there is a symbolic
link at /dev/cdrom pointing to your real cdrom interface (i.e. /dev/hdb).
If it is not there, use --drive /dev/path to point to your actual cdrom path.
As of 0.95 you can also set the drive= option in the .cdstatus config
in your home directory.

Hope you find it useful.
